Kreinik Needlepoint/Canvas Work Thread

needlepoint with kreinikNeedlepoint/Canvas work Needlepoint is a stitchery technique in which you embroider on a canvas mesh to actually create a fabric. The technique has been practiced for centuries, creating cushions, tapestries, garments, and more. It is truly one of the most expressive and creative art forms, as a wide range of stitches and thread types can be used to create visually exciting textures and dimensions. Whether working on a painted canvas or on a charted design, each stitcher can apply their own choice of threads and stitches to create their unique interpretation of the design.

The Kreinik threads listed at right can be used for numerous effects in needlepoint and canvas work. There's a size, color and texture for every need, from fine details to background work and filling stitches. We want your tactile stitching experience to be enjoyable and your finished product to be stunning and of heirloom quality. Thus we proudly offer threads of high quality in an extensive palette of sizes and colors.

There are terrific books available in needlework stores that recommend which Kreinik threads to use for varied stitches. As a general guide, use Kreinik metallic threads in motifs that are naturally light-reflective. For example, use metallics for snow, water, patent-leather shoes, fish, scissors, window lights, belt buckles, rings, candlelights, butterflies, hummingbirds, and more. You can also use them just to dress up any design, introduce the element of light, or add a festive quality.
